The Innovative Marine Technology
Laboratory (IMT Laboratory) is a research group of
the Marine Physical Laboratory.
As part of the Scripps
Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, the IMT Laboratory
maintains facilities in several locations on the campus.

Through the process of answering basic science question
in ocean research, the IMT Laboratory's research spans numerous
fields. The development of innovative instrumentation and
technology plays a big part in obtaining accurate measurements
to solve these questions. Field deployments play in big
part in oceanographic research and likewise, play a big
part in utilizing the instruments which have been developed
in the IMT Lab and gathering necessary measurments and data.
The final data analysis of the information obtained from
the field deployments is performed.
After ending in full circle, often the tasks of completing
a project lead to new questions and new projects. To read
further about our current research, please see the Research
section, which provides a preview of some of our projects.
